Are you looking to boost your income by doing some extra work from home? Are you retired, disabled or a a stay-at-home mum or dad and you need to earn a bit extra working around the children? Here’s a few home business ideas to get you thinking and moving towards a more comfortable life, worrying a little less about how to pay the bills.

If you have a particular hobby could you turn this into a small business? Perhaps you have been working on the family tree, so could adapt your Genealogy skills into helping others and build a successful homeworking enterprise. Charge an hourly fee for doing research. What about animals, could you be a pet sitter, or a dog groomer, minder or walker maybe? If you love art and crafts you could earn cash from this – pottery, painting, felting, card-making, knitting, needlework etc. Make money from selling your crafts on websites like Etsy and Folksy or teach art classes.

Do you enjoy cooking, baking and creating new recipes? Make food and sell it or teach others your culinary secrets. Perhaps photography is your thing, or music, video or reading. Turn your love of reading into a proofreading career. If you’re skilled at languages, try freelance translating for a living. And if you’re great with kids then consider childcare, teaching or tutoring at home. Do you play an instrument – could you teach others to play? Could you be a driving instructor?
Other ideas are envelope stuffing, blogging, writing reviews, running a party plan business, coaching, mystery shopping, cleaning, house minding, delivering local newspapers or leaflets or have you ever thought about being a virtual assistant?
The world is your oyster as far as working from home goes – don’t forget your local business support networks are there to help too (eg businesslink).

The next Natural Health Fair takes place in Birmingham, West Midlands on Sunday 20th June 2010. The event runs from 11 AM until 6 PM. After that, the next Natural Health Fair will be at at Tolworth, Surrey on Sunday 17th Oct 2010 – from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Kath Howard of www.naturalhealthfair.co.uk has a very professional approach to exhibiting saying that “Customer service is paramount to us. We make every effort to ensure that we treat you in a professional and fair way. We endeavour to keep everyone happy, however, we do understand that sometimes that is not possible. There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding the natural health care professions. One of the main aims of this fair is to dispel some of the fictitious beliefs that abound about the industry.”
“We have been organising, running and promoting exhibitions and complementary health for the last six years. From events at the Royal Society of Medicine to huge exhibitions with over 400 stands. We have started running local fairs because in our experience it is better for our visitors and our exhibitors to build a rapport with people that are geographically close. Furthermore our visitors can actually meet and talk to the therapists themselves to get advice and discuss any issues.”
For more information on these fairs – see www.naturalhealthfair.co.uk

We need a Online Marketing Assistant to help promote the Party Plan Together website. It basically involves using your initiative to find other UK party planners then emailing them a google checkout voucher code to get a discounted listing on the site. It’s commission based, so you get a percentage of all the new listings you bring in. An ideal flexible job to work around your family or another job, do anytime of the day or night or weekends.
You would need to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week. The rate is 10% basic commission. You would be ’selling’ the directory listings at £10 making 10% on each listing which you bring in. Also the jobs listings we have at £29.99 would be sold for a discount of £20 – and you would again receive 10%. We would also be offering bonuses depending on sales targets reached. For example a £50 bonus when you reach 30 directory listings.
The role is self-employed/freelance, we would not be employing you. You would need to invoice us once a month. We can tell you how many of your leads have signed up – as you will be given a special code to give out. You can also check your successful leads as they pop up on the listings.
As for finding leads, your success will depend on how well you know the internet and how good you are at researching relevant websites. There are literally hundreds of thousands of party planners in the UK today. Your role is to find them and make friendly contact via email, giving them info about Party Plan Together and the discount codes you can offer them so they can make use of the site, using it to advertise and promote their own direct sales business. There are lots of dedicated party plan websites, and parenting forums you can use, and we can help you with ideas too.
Please email us sdpavey@googlemail.com if you are interested, explaining how you would be suitable for the role. Please add PPT APPLICATION to the subject line of your email. Closing date is 5pm Friday 23rd April.

Hi, My name is Lyndsay and I started Verona Jewellery in 2009 after working for nearly 7 years as a Regional Sales Manager selling gold, silver and diamond jewellery into major retail jewellers across the UK. I decided to start my own direct selling business as I couldn’t think of a better way to earn money than organising and attending parties and making gorgeous jewellery available and affordable to everyone.
I also wanted to extend the Verona Opportunity and make it available to all women, giving them a genuine opportunity to start their own business and have a real potential to make money. For as little as £35.00 you can buy into and own your own piece of Verona, and receive all the tools you need to set up and get started including our friendly ongoing training and support for life!
Now Verona Jewellery is becoming one of the fastest growing jewellery home business opportunities in the UK today. We guarantee to offer only the finest quality UK hallmarked 925 silver for our luxury designer jewellery collection.
Most of our jewellery is British designed and made in Italy or ethically sourced from around the world. We have styles and prices to suit everyone and are so confident of the quality of our products that we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee returns policy.
