Miglio Independent Consultant Wins Top Industry Award
Posted by sharon - 21/05/09 at 07:05 pmEvery year, the Direct Selling Association (DSA) hosts its industry gala awards. The Awards ceremony this year took place at the Alton Towers Resort and is combined with the DSA’s annual conference. The conference addresses current issues affecting the direct selling industry, and offers the opportunity for direct sellers to network, share information and gain valuable insights from their peers and other experts. The awards themselves provide recognition of excellence in a wide variety of areas ranging from outstanding services and sales achievements, through to leadership.

This year, 22-year old Rebekah Patterson, an independent Miglio Jewellery consultant from Belfast, was named New Direct Seller of the Year. The award recognises an individual who has joined a member company within the last two years, and has achieved outstanding results. All the awards have hundreds of nominations and are fiercely contested, so winning one of them is a fantastic achievement. Past winners of the award include Gillian Cargill (Virgin Vie) in 2008.
Rebekah joined Miglio about two years ago and has become one of the companies top performing consultants, with an eye for great customer service. As well as being a talented sales person, Rebekah also runs a successful team of consultants.
Like most direct sales consultants – whether they work for The Body Shop at Home or Tish Tash Toys – Rebekah sells Miglio jewellery from her home, at parties and in offices, building up a loyal customer base in a relatively short time. In a piece for Red Magazine, Rebekah stated “It’s great to be able to combine my love of designer jewellery with making some extra money, and being able to entertain friends at the same time is not exactly hard work!”
When receiving the award, Rebekah said “I am astounded to have been picked as the winner because I just love what I do, the jewellery sells itself and I am so lucky to have been able to have a job which I enjoy getting up each morning for! However, it is hard work as I have many customers, I have a team of other brilliant consultants across the country that I support and I have to make sure that I keep up-to-date with all the new launches but because the jewellery is so beautiful, everyone is always really pleased to see it.”
Direct selling is one of the fastest growing sectors of the retail industry, with numbers of direct sellers up 15% over the same time last year. The awards recognise the work of the many people involved in the industry.
